This Saturday, June 5th, 2021, Chicago Sinfonietta will close its 2020-2021 season with a finale that honors the voice of the people in its many forms, tracing the line of stories told across time and place. Featuring the Suite from Piazzolla’s tango opera, Maria de Buenos Aires, Valerie Coleman's Suite: Portraits of Josephine, a musical portrayal of entertainer and activist Josephine Baker's life, and finishing with a world premiere commission called La Lección Tres by Grammy award-winning bassist Victor Wooten. Merging the present with the past, Sinfonietta presents Fusion: Stronger, Together, a mesmerizing season closing *virtual* concert! Edward Kelsey Moore will be performing among his Sinfonietta colleagues in this concert. Frequently Asked Questions for Sinfonietta Virtual Concerts - www.chicagosinfonietta.org/virtual-concerts/ The Chicago Sinfonietta is "the orchestra of diversity," a professional symphony orchestra which forms unique cultural connections through the universal language of music. Since 1987 the Sinfonietta has presented an exciting blend of musical and artistic genres, mixing the Classical and Romantic repertoire with bold contemporary works. In its explorations of symphonic music the orchestra shatters traditional boundaries through its collaborations: exploring synergies between classical music, dance movement, live theater, and other (non-classical) musical styles. In non-COVID years, the Chicago Sinfonietta performs regularly at Wentz Concert Hall in Naperville, IL, and in world famous Orchestra Hall at Symphony Center in downtown Chicago.
